What is yoga

Each Year, yoga Is Growing Ever More Popular. Someone is doing it for fun, someone to tighten muscles and just improve physical fitness. And some simply pay tribute to modernity by attending yoga classes just because it is fashionable. However, what is yoga and why does it exist?
The concept of "yoga" came to us from Indian culture and comes from such a Sanskrit word as "yug." Literally translated as “connection” or “unity” and these two concepts describe the essence of yoga in the best possible way. Connection, a combination of spiritual, physical and mental practices aimed at unification, the unity of the spiritual and physical essence of man.

Yoga philosophy

Yoga, contrary to popular belief, is not a religion. This is a philosophy developed by millennia-old practices of Buddhist and Hindu monks. The combination of body and soul in meditation strengthens the general physical condition of a person and strengthens the connection with the subconscious. Yoga is used in order to achieve a state of balance, harmony and relaxation through breathing, physical movements and morale.
Yoga practices various practices to strengthen the body and spirit. Each pose ( asanas ) strengthens a different muscle group and develops flexibility. The philosophy of yoga considers the human body to be just a shell, interacting with which, the human mind moves to a different level of development, awakening hidden physical and psycho-emotional capabilities that allow you to create the incredible.
From a medical point of view, yoga is incredibly useful for a person. Various physical exercises strengthen muscles, increase blood oxygen saturation, which leads to better functioning of all human organs, increase tissue elasticity, and rejuvenates the body. Psychological exercises, which are also practiced by yoga, improve memory, calm, increase the general concentration of attention, give a sense of balance and harmony.

The exercises practiced in yoga are not even remotely like the exercises of the aerobics and fitness halls. Asana carries a psychophysiological load, trains the body and mind, while normal aerobic exercises affect only the body. To perform such exercises, physical preparation and accuracy of actions are enough. Asana, on the other hand, requires endurance and concentration of the mind, trains muscles and develops brain abilities. Among other things, asanas are used for deeper self-knowledge, meditation and hypnosis.

Iyengar Yoga

There are many varieties of yoga. One of the most commonly practiced is Iyengar Yoga. This person systematized about two hundred classic asanas, dividing them by difficulty level. In the Iyengar method, emphasis is placed primarily on consistency and safety. Each student gradually moves from simpler to more complex asanas. In this approach, muscle strengthening and increased flexibility are not accompanied by injuries and painful sprains.
The Iyengar method pays great attention to details, which makes you control yourself every second of the class, focus not on the general actions, but on every minute movement, inspiration, thought ... This accustoms the body to discipline and control, changing not only the attitude to the lesson, but also to all aspects of life.
It is recommended to conduct yoga classes every day, such regular training accustom the body to a certain regime, the muscles receive a metered load, strengthening the whole body. In addition, yoga improves mood, calms and renews a person’s vital energy. The most suitable time for classes is morning or evening, when the body is most relaxed.

Everyone can do yoga - children and the elderly, men and women, healthy and with complaints of well-being. Classes will help everyone to find something of their own - the flexibility of the body or mind, a surge of vitality or peace, muscle strength or the depth of thought. Using asanas and pranayama (control of breathing), everyone can develop their body as much as they can afford. There are no specific guidelines for the provision of yoga, everyone chooses a convenient time for themselves. You can do one hour a week, or you can do several hours a day. Iyengar Yoga improves well-being, makes the body resistant to disease, and the mind - to stress, improves posture, makes a person physically more resilient, calm and balanced.
It should be remembered that when starting independent studies, one should not take on complex asanas. It’s better to start with simple exercises and it’s better to do it under the supervision of an experienced master who will help and explain how to best perform this or that pose.
One who has experienced the healing effects of the practice on himself will never be able to abandon yoga.
